Squirrel Monkeys Rally Late to Clip Philadelphia
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys wiggled past the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 5-4, at Liberty Reserve Stadium. The win was highlighted by the performance of Syracuse pitcher Mark Hodge. Augusto Sousa, now 2-2, was credited with the win in 3.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Syracuse now sits at 25-26, while Philadelphia falls to 22-29.

Syracuse used a clutch hit from Dennis Veeneman to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Philadelphia manager Kiril Neuvel.
