The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds got a magnificent performance from pitcher Marvin Glendenning, who muffled the Santa Barbara offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Fighting Dachshunds win at Crane Field. Glendenning, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Golden Cranes, at 20-37, have lost 5 in a row.
Ellenburg used a well-timed hit by Carlos Manuel to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Fighting Dachshunds ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Manuel said.
