Squirrel Monkeys Get Past Tortolita, 4-3
|
The Squirrel Monkeys grabbed a win, 4-3, at Drummers Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Tortolita pitcher Norman Ayres. Ayres went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Joe Dougherty notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. The 5th-place Squirrel Monkeys have won 6 straight games.
Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Albert Devigorerrazuriz to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Devigorerrazuriz attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
