Liberty Reserves Suffer 5-1 Road Loss
|
The Kansas Rainbeaus topped the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 5-1, in USSL Triple A action at Wichita Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Kansas pitcher Carter King. King, now 7-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The triumph puts Kansas at 30-28 for the season.
The Rainbeaus got a big at-bat from shortstop Chris Gutiérrez. For the game, Gutiérrez went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Kansas a 3-1 lead.
"Carter answered the bell," said Kansas manager José Villegas.
