The Florence Flamingos got a strong performance from pitcher Al Leonard, who stymied the Austin offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Florence Field. In 7.1 innings, Leonard surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. At 28-32, the Flamingos claim 7th place in the Silver AAA.
Making an impact for Florence was right fielder Shane Wood. He drilled a run-scoring double off Horace Hill in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Wood was 1 for 3 with a double.
