With third baseman Rafael Cruz leading the charge, the Sioux Falls Red Pandas defeated the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 12-6, at The Zoo in Syracuse. Cruz, who is tied for 4th in the SAAA in triples with 3, was 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Juan Luis Matos earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 1-1. The Red Pandas improved their record to 36-27 by beating Syracuse.

This game was not decided until late. With two out in the top of the 12th, Fred Watkins drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Red Pandas took the lead, 4-3.

In postgame remarks, Watkins said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
