3-2 Loss Extends Florence Losing Streak
In a low-scoring affair between the Monongahela Monsters and the Florence Flamingos, pitcher Cisco Navarro was the difference between victory and defeat. The Monongahela right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Monsters win. Navarro yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 8-3. Héctor González recorded the save for Monongahela, his 16th of the season.

The Flamingos had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Monsters going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old third baseman Grant Cobb came to the plate. Cobb hit a 2-run double on a 3-1 fastball from Florence hurler Roosevelt Maynard. It was Cobb's 10th double of the year.
