The Philadelphia Liberty Reserves picked up a win at Florence Field, knocking off the Florence Flamingos, 6-5, in 10 innings. On the mound for Philadelphia was left-hander Roland Jamison. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Bill Carson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-1. The first-place Liberty Reserves have a one-game lead in their division.

Philadelphia used a timely hit from Chi Chi Rodríguez to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Liberty Reserves ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.

"Roland was throwing free and easy," said Philadelphia manager Kiril Neuvel.
