Due in large part to designated hitter Dennis Veeneman, the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys sunk the Monongahela Monsters, 6-4. Veeneman went 2-4 with 2 home runs. Augusto Sousa earned the save for Syracuse, his 10th of the year. The 'W' lifts Syracuse's record to 37-31.

Center Fielder Dennis Hanks made an impact for Syracuse, when he swatted a run-scoring triple off Bill Bray in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Hanks was 2 for 3 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.

"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Veeneman.
