The Hartford Pride beat the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 5-2, at Liberty Reserve Stadium. The Pride got a fine performance from first baseman Tsuneyo Hirata, who went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. By defeating Philadelphia, the last-place Pride improved to 24-44.

In the top of the sixth, Hirata put his team in front with his 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came against Jim Ball, made it 5-2, Hartford.

Hartford manager Tim Fowler called it "a pretty good win."
