The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys could not turn a fine performance from designated hitter Zico Point du Jour, Jr. into a win. Instead, the Monongahela Monsters prevailed, 5-2, in 10 innings. Point du Jour, Jr. threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Héctor González in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Rizhean Bonrostro took the loss. Luis Romero sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Monongahela used a timely hit from Scott Danior to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Monsters ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Syracuse manager Ramón Barrueco.
Monongahela bumps their record to 40-29 with the win.
