The Florence Flamingos besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Kansas third baseman Chris Gutiérrez by beating the Rainbeaus, 4-3, at Florence Field. Gutiérrez was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Earning his 1st save of the year was Kun Ec. After today's action, Florence sits at 29-40; Kansas slips to 34-35.
Bobby Harris drove in one run for Florence. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Harris, who is tied for 2nd in the SAAA in doubles with 20, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Kansas hurler Aaron Gary, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Flamingos a 4-3 lead.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Harris told the Florence Gazette.
