Pride Get Past Hamilton for 3-2 Win
|
The Hartford Pride faced a tough opponent in Hamilton pitcher Claude Simon, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Coyote Wildlife Refuge by a final score of 3-2. Simon went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Hartford reliever Sergio Tacuri was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Gregory Gilbert. Picking up the save was Ted Browning, his 7th.
Hartford got the win thanks to a clutch hit from David Wright. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pride ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Wright told the Hartford Daily. "Whatever it takes."
The win gives Hartford a season record of 40-29.
