Monsters Take Down Liberty Reserves, 2-1
|
The Monongahela Monsters, despite a fine performance by Philadelphia pitcher Jim Ball, grabbed a 2-1 win at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Ball allowed no runs over 5 innings. The winning pitcher was Laionela Pualani. He's now 5-2. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits for the Monsters. Héctor González sewed up the save, his 17th.
Gorgonio Arboleda, who is tied for 3rd in the SAAA with a .314 batting average, contributed to the Monongahela win with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Arboleda.
At 42-30, Monongahela is in second place in the Silver AAA.
