The Sacramento Redlegs beat the Hialeah Dodos, 3-2. Sacramento pitcher and Santa Fe Springs, California, native Victor Jones led the way. Jones went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-1. The Redlegs raised their record to 46-29.
Sacramento used a clutch hit from Matt Fightmaster to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Redlegs ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Tough loss," said Hialeah manager Billy Strauss. "But we'll learn from it."
