The Florence Flamingos got a marvelous performance from pitcher Luis Domínguez. The right-hander kept the Austin offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 8-1 Florence victory at Florence Field. Domínguez, now 4-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Flamingos.
Manuel Méndez made an early impact for Florence when he stroked his 3rd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which came with two out in the bottom of the first, put the Flamingos on top, 3-0.
Méndez called the win "a team effort."
