The Zoo in Syracuse was the site of a competitive game between the Florence Flamingos and Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys.
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys beat the Florence Flamingos, 2-1, at The Zoo in Syracuse. Starting pitcher Yefim Vistunov was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Vistunov, now 4-6, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 1 run.
William Carson had a key at-bat with two out in the bottom of the second for Syracuse. With the bases loaded and the Squirrel Monkeys leading 1-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
Carson called the win "a team effort."
The third-place Squirrel Monkeys are now 43-34, the Flamingos 33-44.
