Hot Chickens Land Close Win
|
Led by Steve Walker, the Nashville Hot Chickens downed the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 5-4. Walker was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Hot Chickens. Steve Crabtree, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Santa Barbara, at 24-53, has lost 5 straight.
Had Walker not come through in the bottom of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Walker drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Hot Chickens took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Walker.
