The Sioux Falls Red Pandas beat the Monongahela Monsters, 5-3. Sioux Falls pitcher and Highland, Illinois, native Rock DeVote led the way. Hideki Takahashi, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. The Red Pandas win now puts them at 39-45.
José Rentería helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he hit a first pitch sinker from Fernando Feliciano for a 2-run home run, to give Sioux Falls a 2-0 lead.
Sioux Falls manager José González commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
