Austin registered a win at Mamba Park by beating the Plymouth Rocks, 4-2. Pitcher Richard Fernández was one reason why the Black Mambas triumphed. Fernández picked up the win for Austin, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Roberto Chaumond earned his 2nd save in 3 chances.

The Rocks had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Black Mambas going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old catcher Jaime Montaño came to the plate. Montaño hit a 2-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from Plymouth hurler Jason García. It was Montaño's 3rd home run of the year.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Montaño, "and then get after it again."

The victory makes Austin 24-61.
