Hartford Wins, Skinner 3-for-4

The Hartford Pride beat the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 8-5, at Liberty Reserve Stadium. The Pride got a fine performance from center fielder Ed Skinner, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Hartford starter Hamish Mitchell was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. The first-place Liberty Reserves now sit at 56-29.
In the top of the fifth, Hartford third baseman Michael Jones had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, Jones stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-2, Hartford. For the game, he went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk.
In postgame comments to the Hartford Times, Skinner said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
