Tortolita third baseman Wayne Schmidt was sensational. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Hartford beat the Drummers, 5-4. Picking up the save was Glenn Patterson, his 17th. Today's win puts Hartford at 36-49, while Tortolita falls to 45-40.

Hartford used the clutch hitting of Scott Wright to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Pride the lead, 5-1. For the game, Wright had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"We take it day by day here," said Wright, "and today was a good one for us."
