Hot Chickens Reel In 2-1 Win
|
The Nashville Hot Chickens claimed a close win over the Plymouth Rocks, due in large part to Max van Capelleveen. The Nashville right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. van Capelleveen, now 5-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Fred Hardy collected his 7th save.
Nashville won the game in part because of Leonard Allen. The catcher ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hot Chickens ahead, 2-1. For the game, Allen had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Gerald Clark.
Nashville now sits at 36-51, while Plymouth falls to 45-42.
