Thrilling Victory Pushes Liberty Reserves Win Streak to 6
|
The Philadelphia Liberty Reserves got a marvelous performance from pitcher Jim Ball. The right-hander kept the Monongahela offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 Philadelphia victory at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for Philadelphia.
Steve Edwards came through with a big-time hit for Philadelphia. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Ball told the Philadelphia News.
