Jim Ball, who is tied for 9th in the SAAA in complete games with 1, pitched well, but the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves still fell short, losing, 4-2, to the Florence Flamingos at Liberty Reserve Stadium. Florence is now 39-55.

Dan Zimmerman had a big 2-run home run for the Flamingos in the top of the fourth inning. With Florence leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from Jim Ball, who is tied for 9th in the SAAA in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Flamingos on top, 4-1.

Said losing manager Kiril Neuvel: "Give the Flamingos credit. They played a better game than we did."
