Philadelphia Liberty Reserves starter Jim Ball turned in a sparkling performance against the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Ball got the win, improving to 10-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Liberty Reserves are now 48-46, while the Red Pandas fall to 50-44.
Philadelphia used the hitting of Alvin Grant to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Liberty Reserves on top, 3-2. For the game, Grant had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
After the game, Philadelphia manager Kiril Neuvel applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
