Liberty Reserves Win, Now 48-47
|
Philadelphia turned a good performance from starting pitcher Peter Smith into a 4-0 triumph over the Florence Flamingos at Liberty Reserve Stadium. Smith, now 8-9, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Kasper Berg closed it out for his 4th save.
Philadelphia got a big at-bat from Phoenix, Arizona native Erik Limond, who in the bottom of the first hit a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Liberty Reserves ahead, 3-0.
In postgame remarks, Smith hailed his team's "single-minded focus."
Philadelphia is now 48-47. Florence is 39-56.
