The Hamilton Thunderbirds did just enough to sneak past the Norfolk Pajaritos, 6-5, at Norfolk Field. Hamilton pitcher Vernon Álvarez, in particular, had a standout performance. Álvarez picked up the win for Hamilton, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-8. Ed Walters closed it out for his 16th save.

Hamilton used a well-timed hit by Ron Johnson to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Vernon is still learning," said Thunderbirds manager León Domínguez. "The sky's the limit for him."
