Liberty Reserves Stick Flamingos with 5-3 Loss
|
With center fielder Chi Chi Rodríguez leading the charge, the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves defeated the Florence Flamingos, 5-3, at Liberty Reserve Stadium. Rodríguez, who is tied for 6th in the SAAA in stolen bases with 10, was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Javier Salinas, who is tied for 7th in the SAAA with a 2.97 ERA, was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout. Philadelphia is 5th in the Silver AAA with a record of 49-47.
Had Isaaka Kaikala not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Kaikala hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Liberty Reserves.
