Liberty Reserves Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Dogfish Head, 4-1
|
Philadelphia pitcher Peter Smith had a large part in his team subduing the Milton Dogfish Head, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Fred Briggs locked down his 12th save. The Liberty Reserves, at 50-48, sit in 5th place in the Silver AAA.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Alvin Grant to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Liberty Reserves on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Peter had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Philadelphia manager Kiril Neuvel.
