The Sioux Falls Red Pandas beat the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 7-3. Sioux Falls pitcher and El Tocuyo, Venezuela, native Javier Rúbio led the way. Rúbio yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-2. The 5th-place Squirrel Monkeys dropped to 50-49.

Tony Flores had a big grand slam home run for the Red Pandas in the bottom of the second inning. With Sioux Falls leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Pete Scott and punished it.
