Liberty Reserves Score Late, Upend Drummers, 6-4
|
The Philadelphia Liberty Reserves dealt the Tortolita Drummers a 6-4 loss at Drummers Ballpark. Martin Ryan, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2054 draft, was the star on offense. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Franklin Vaughn picked up the win in relief for Philadelphia, while Todd Jackson took the loss. Philadelphia, now 52-49, holds down 4th place in the Silver AAA.
Ryan had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-0 fastball from Todd Jackson, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Liberty Reserves a 5-4 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Ryan.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Ryan.
