Though he had a terrific game, Duncan Collins could not prevent his team, the Florence Flamingos, from absorbing a loss. Hartford won the game, 6-4. Collins went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jeffrey Dixon, the winner, is now 6-7. He struck out 2 and walked 1 over 8 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 10 hits. Jason Herbert recorded the save, his 3rd.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Steve Allison? The Hartford right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pride on top, 5-4. For the game, Allison had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Hartford manager Tim Fowler commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
Hartford is now 43-58, Florence 42-59.
