Liberty Reserves Defeat Pajaritos, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Peter Smith was a major factor in the 3-2 Philadelphia Liberty Reserves triumph over the Norfolk Pajaritos. Philadelphia reliever Dick Hill picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Roger de Gooyer took the loss. The first-place Liberty Reserves have won 5 in a row.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 23-year old right fielder Erik Limond had a chance to be the hero. Norfolk pitcher Roger de Gooyer wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Limond hit a sacrifice fly. The Liberty Reserves had themselves a thrilling win.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Kiril Neuvel, the Philadelphia skipper.
