Starting pitcher Whitney Westcott gave the Tacoma Fur Traders a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Virginia Beach Whales, 3-2, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Pablo De Los Santos earned save number 1 this season. The Fur Traders raised their record to 3-0.

The Fur Traders got a big hit from pinch hitter Biff Poggi. In the bottom of the seventh, Poggi smacked a 2-run double off Virginia Beach pitcher Desi Riley. It was his 1st double of the season. Suddenly, the Fur Traders were ahead, 3-2.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Virginia Beach manager Wilson López.
