Newell Stars in 10-6 Dirty Reds Win
|
Led by Gil Newell, the Dayton Dirty Reds downed the Baltimore Bullets, 10-6. Newell was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Dirty Reds. Stanley Thompson claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. His record stands at 2-0. Getting the save was David Adelabu, his 8th.
Fernando Salinas came through with a big-time hit for Dayton. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 7-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We came out aggressive," said Dirty Reds manager David Dodds. "We came out swinging the bats."
Dayton is now 30-14, Baltimore 21-23.
