Dirty Reds Take Nail-Biter Over Battery
The 6-4 Dayton win over Charleston was due largely to Fernando Salinas. The Dirty Reds shortstop hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Dayton reliever Steve King was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Juan Carlos Mejía took the loss. The first-place Dirty Reds have won 5 straight games.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the tenth. With Dayton trailing 4-3, Salinas jumped on a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Carlos Mejía and hit a 3-run home run to right-center. With one swing, the Dirty Reds had a walk-off win.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Salinas said.
