|
St. Louis beat Kingston at The BFIB, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to designated hitter Melvin Williams. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Josh Sargent got the win, improving to 5-3. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Getting the save was George Law, his 5th.
With St. Louis leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Williams batted against Kingston pitcher Claude Simon. Williams hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Coeur on top, 5-1.
"We ground out the win," said Williams. "That's all that matters."
St. Louis currently is in 7th place in the Third League at 32-34.
