Long Island Wins, 6-4, in Extra Innings
|
The Long Island Lighthouse racked up a win at Lang Park, bumping off the Dayton Dirty Reds, 6-4, in 13 innings. Ken Harding, who started for Long Island, pitched effectively for his team. Long Island goes to 48-22. The win puts them 6 games up in their division.
Long Island used a timely hit from Duke Hoban to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 13th inning to put the Lighthouse ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Hoban told the Long Island Daily. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
