Rock City Suffer One-Run Loss at Charleston
|
The Charleston Battery picked up a win at Charleston Armory, taking down the Detroit Rock City, 4-3. Starting pitcher Pablo Valentín was a big reason why. Picking up his 19th save was fan favorite Juan Carlos Mejía. Charleston has 4 straight wins, Detroit 4 straight losses.
Had Lang Ouyang not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ouyang hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Battery.
"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said Charleston manager Matt Hunt.
