Oakland Defeated By Ponies, 7-3
|
The Kingston Ponies defeated the Oakland Oaks, 7-3. Center Fielder Holden Hart deserved a large share of the credit. Hart went 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Ponies. The 8th-place Ponies hiked their record to 40-48.
Kingston second baseman Phil Brooks contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a changeup to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 15th hit of the season and put the Ponies ahead, 3-0.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Hart told the Kingston Chronicle.
