The Long Island Lighthouse defeated the Oakland Oaks, 7-3. Right Fielder Duke Hoban deserved a large share of the credit. Hoban was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Lighthouse. Larry Alexander finished to wrap up his 3rd save. At 63-29, the Lighthouse claim first place in the Third League.

With Long Island leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Hoban hit a sinker from Larry Lambert for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Lighthouse ahead, 3-0.

In postgame comments, Hoban told the Long Island Daily: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
