Starting pitcher José Martínez pitched well enough to help the Detroit Rock City beat the Cape Coral Hurricanes, 4-3. Martínez, the winner, moves to 7-9. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Cape Coral has now lost 5 straight.
Gareth Holz had a big solo home run for the Rock City in the top of the fifth inning. With Detroit leading 3-1 and the bases empty, he got a curveball from Janghyun Han, who finished 5th in the 3L in strikeouts with 129 in 2059, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 19th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rock City ahead, 4-1.
