Dirty Reds Win at Thunder Bay, 4-2
|
Dayton pitcher Tom Schaefer had a large part in his team beating the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Schaefer, now 12-6, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The first-place Dirty Reds have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Roberto Soto, who is tied for 2nd in the 3L with a .990 OPS, had a direct impact on the outcome. Soto contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Dayton up, 3-2.
"Tom gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Dayton skipper David Dodds.
