Pauw Slugs Grey Wolves to 3-1 Win
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves and Dayton Dirty Reds played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Vancouver first baseman Gerben Pauw was a significant contributor in his team's 3-1 triumph over the Dayton Dirty Reds. He was 3-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Grey Wolves. The winning pitcher was 32-year old right-handed pitcher Dionísio Zagallo. He tossed 70 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits. Brad Carter was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 28 save opportunities.
With Vancouver leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Pauw hit a splitter from Juan Rodríguez for a solo home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Grey Wolves ahead, 2-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Pauw told the Vancouver Observer.
With the win, Vancouver raised its record to 69-38.
