Yakima Hops starter José Mecedone had all his pitches working at Ballpark of Tacoma. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-2 Yakima win over the Tacoma Fur Traders. The winner was Mecedone. He threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Christian Jones. The first-place Hops hiked their record to 14-7.

The Hops got an important contribution from third baseman Zi-xing Szema, who in the top of the second hit a 1-2 sinker to left for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Hops ahead, 4-1.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Szema told the Yakima Daily News.
