Whales, Reyes Pin Bad Loss on Rails
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 27-year old first baseman Esteban Reyes, the Virginia Beach Whales stopped the Richland Rails, 10-2, in 9 innings. Desi Riley got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 7.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 5. The third-place Whales have won 4 in a row.
Early in the game, shortstop Gerardo Sotelo had a run-scoring triple for Virginia Beach. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Whales on top, 2-1.
"It was a solid team effort," Sotelo said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
