The Las Vegas Flamingos eked out a 2-1 win versus the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at The Strip. Nobody did more than pitcher Naohiro Ueno. He was terrific. In 8 innings, Ueno surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Chris Williams picked up the save, his 4th.

Weiner Blau drove in one run for Las Vegas. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Blau had a clutch at-bat. Facing Northern Virginia hurler Dustin Howard, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Flamingos a 2-1 lead.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Las Vegas manager Tom Williams.

The Flamingos now own a record of 35-37.
