The Virginia Beach Whales beat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 10-5, at Virginia Beach Grounds. The Whales got a fine performance from third baseman Daniel Eglinton, who was 3-5 with a triple and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Matt Whitfield, the winner, is now 3-1. He struck out 6 and walked 4 over 6.2 innings, while allowing 5 runs on 11 hits. Cristovão Mineiro finished to wrap up his 3rd save.

The Whales got an important contribution from left fielder Victor Cals, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a cutter to left for a solo home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Whales ahead, 4-2.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Wilson López said.

The 4th-place Fur Traders dropped to 22-17.
