The Richland Rails picked up a win at Sixshooters Stadium, knocking off the Westwood Sixshooters, 6-2. Starting pitcher Stan Carter was a big reason why. Carter got the win, improving to 2-5. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The first-place Rails bumped their record to 30-17.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Mark Woods? The Richland shortstop had a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rails on top, 5-2. For the game, Woods had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Woods told the Richland Chronicle.
