Hops Pull Out Late Win, 6-5
|
Richland left fielder Gjelt Willems had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-5, to Yakima at Hops Park. Willems went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Yakima pitcher Lowell Nash got the win. He's now 2-2. John McCall was tagged with the loss. The 9th-place Hops now have a record of 27-31.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Yakima center fielder Ricardo González, facing John McCall, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Hops the 6-5 win.
"The crowd went wild," González said.
