Sixshooters Come Up Short at Richland, 1-0
|
The Richland Rails beat the Westwood Sixshooters, 1-0, at Rails Ballpark. Starting pitcher Chris Murton was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winner was Murton. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Jeremy Hathaway. Getting the save was Kent Coleman, his 20th.
Andy Farris drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Richland. The 25-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jeremy Hathaway. It was his 12th RBI of the season.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Richland manager Todd Hines.
Richland now has a record of 41-23 with the win.
